Interestingly, the company shut down the original Google Drive app for desktops back in March of 2018 and launched two separate clients instead - Drive File Stream that was aimed at enterprises, and Backup and Sync for regular users.Įven though it sounds like a confusing mess on Google’s end, it’s not really a surprising move.
In the coming weeks, Google will begin rolling out its new Drive desktop app for Mac and Windows that unifies the enterprise and free-to-use tiers of its cloud service.
